Cancelled classes

There will be no classes on Saturday the 17^th August as the hall is being used for an event, all other week day classes are on as normal and students are welcome to attend one of these to make up for the missed class. Our midweek classes are on Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Upcoming gradings

The August grading will be held on the 10^th August and the September grading will be held on Saturday the 28^th September. Both gradings will start at 12.15. The cost is £30 per person and all details can be found at www.titantkd.com

Mac Millan Coffee Morning

We will be having another coffee morning on Saturday the 21^st of September, we managed to raise £260 last year so lets see if we can top that total! We will have loads of cake (of course) to tuck into so feel free to invite friends and family along!

This year there will also be a bake off event and other competitions to enter!

Extra grading practice

There is an opportunity for our green belts in our beginners class to do some extra grading practice before sitting their blue tags and moving up to the advanced group. Students are welcome to stay after their regular lesson for 15-20 mins to work with an instructor on specific grading requirements.

This opportunity is also open to our advanced class who are looking to attain their black belt, just stay behind after class.

Sparring class

Our sparring class runs from 12.15 – 1.15 after the advanced class on a Saturday and is open to all students. Why not pop down and give the class a try?!

Next grading date

Our next grading date will be Saturday the 26^th of January at 12.15pm. The cost of the gradings this year will increase slightly to £30, this is the first increase the club has ever made to gradings. Full details of the syllabus can be found online at www.titantkd.com.

Hoodie order

We will be putting in an order for hoodies and tshirts next week, if you would like to order one just give your size to your instructor. Hoodies are priced at £15 and tshirts £8

My bad!!!!

Apologies for last weeks Saturday classes being cancelled. I was given notice in the summer that the hall would be unavailable and I diligently wrote this on my wall calendar at the time…then completely forgot to look at said calendar. I have never managed to do this before and apologies for any inconvenience.

Cancelled class

There will be no classes on Tuesday 13^th November as there is line painting on the floor, Thursday classes will be back on as normal.

Next competition

The next event for the club will be the GTA 1-2-1 on Sunday the 2^nd December at Caledonian Taekwondo Health and fitness centre. The event will host sparring, patterns and breaking and it costs £15 to enter as many divisions as you wish.

Christmas party

Our Christmas party this year will be held on the 8^th December from 3-4.30pm at Craigholme Sports Complex. We will have cakes, games,  and bouncy castle fun. Just let your instructor know if you can attend so we can cater for the correct number.

Remember we are still running our bring a friend promotion! If you introduce a friend to TKD and they sign up you get one month of fees back in cash!

I will be asking people to change over payments from standing orders to the new direct debit system, please continue to pay for classes as normal until I speak to you in class to explain the process. The cost of the classes are not going to change.

McMillan coffee morning

Last year we ran a coffee morning and we raised £250 for the charity. It was such great fun we have decided to run another one this year on Saturday the 22^nd of September. Feel free to pop down and enjoy some TKD and cake!

Shawlands Academy Festival of sport 

Titan Taekwondo will be attending the Shawlands Academy festival of sport on Saturday the 15^th of September. We are looking for advanced students who will be willing to help out at the event with demonstrations. If you can help with this please let your instructor know. Please note all classes will also be running as normal.

Team Titan at the GTA 1-2-1

Well done to our team who took part in in the Glasgow Taekwondo Association 1-2-1 competition. These events are development competitions designed to introduce students to a competitive environment in a friendly atmosphere. Everyone who took part put in a fantastic performance, well done!

Our class times on a Saturday have changed slightly from July. As we now have access to the full hall for part of the time on Saturdays we have changed the class times to provide a more efficient class schedule and it will also allow us to trial a specific sparring class for the first time.

The new class times are as follows

Saturday

9.45-10.15          Tot kwon do

10.15-11.15        Beginner

11.15-12.15        Intermediate and Advanced

12.15-1.15          Sparring class

Our mid week classes remain the same

Currently we offer a one class a week option for students at £22 a month or £37 two kids. From July we will no longer offer this to new students joining the club, if you are currently paying this and do not wish to add any additional classes (midweek or sparring) there will be no change to your fees.

If you currently pay for one session a week and wish to attend our new sparring class the cost would increase from £22 a month to £30 a month. If you use a family membership the cost increases from £37 a month to £47 a month for 2 children.

T-shirts

If you have ordered a t-shirt they are now available for pick up. If you haven’t ordered one there are a few available for £8 and you can pick one up in class.

Black belt grading

The next black belt grading will be on the 17^th June at Caledonian Taekwondo Health and Fitness centre. There will be a seminar prior to the grading at 10am that is open to all red tags and above which is free to attend. If anyone is wishing to sit their dan grade this year or next year is advised to attend the grading.

Titan Tshirts

(Fingers crossed) Spring has arrived with some warmer weather, if students wish to train with their blue Titan t-shirt instead of their full dobock this is no problem. I will be putting in a new order  shortly and t-shirts cost £8 each. The sizes range from 5-6, 7-8, 9-11, 12-13, 14-15 and adults S, M & L. To order one just put down your name and size on the order sheet at class.

Parents Taekwondo

We offer classes to parents as well as kids. This is always offered at a discounted rate of £20 per month for unlimited classes. If you want to try out a few classes for free just pop into class and give the sport a shot. We already have a few parents why join in with our classes, why not ask them what to expect from you first class?

Class timetable

We run 3 sessions a week at Criagholme on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday mornings. Our Tuesday class is a technique and grading based class and our Thursday and Saturday classes are general TKD. If you wish to attend more than one class a week there is only a slight increase in fees and it costs £30 per month (£47 for a family membership)

If any student wishes to sit their black belt this December it is a requirement that they attend more than one class per week.

If you currently pay for one class a week and you miss your regular class feel free to drop in to an different class to make up for your missed session
