Taekwondo is all about progression and it’s great to see so many of our students who start in the pre school class move into the main program. The belt system used in TKD is a great visual system for kids to understand that to progress and earn their new grade they have to learn and demonstrate new skills. We find that kids are very self-motivated and engaged getting their new belt. We run regular gradings at the club and while gradings are never forced they are always encouraged!

We have had a few new followers recently so I thought I would do a meet the instructor post! I’m Laura 4th Dan black belt, head instructor and owner of Titan Taekwondo. I started the sport at 18 when I went to university and immediately loved Taekwondo, the mix of the traditional side and the sport element of Taekwondo was really engaging. While working towards my blackbelt I assisted in coaching classes and began my club in 2008 after achieving my 1st Dan. I focused on the sport TKD for a few years and traveled and competed throughout Europe representing Scotland and Caledonian Taekwondo. In addition to being a taekwondo instructor, I am also a level 2 weightlifting coach and level three personal trainer specialising in pre and post-natal fitness. (Alongside Titan I run bumps and bubs in the west end of the city) I love teaching Taekwondo and I always aim to create classes that are fun, engaging and welcoming to all
