Sports day bonaza for Titan Taekwondo
The last week of term was a busy one for Titan Taekwondo! We attended 3 Sports Days at schools in the South Side of Glasgow. Taekwondo was one of many sports that Shawlands, Langside and Battlefied Primary decided to offer to their students. It was a fantastic opportunity for Titan to get out into the community and we look forward to working with the schools in the future.
Glasgow Open
Titan Taekwondo had its biggest team yet at an open competition with Luke, Daniel, Paris and Willow taking part in the Glasgow Open at the Emirates Arena organised by the Glasgow Taekwondo Association. Both sets of siblings put in excellent performances and returned with 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Luke started the day and was merged up into the advanced category, it was a tough match for him and he gained valuable experience against a tough opponent and finished with a bronze medal. Willow was up next at her first ever open tournament again she fought an extremely good fight but was unfortunately beaten by Emily from Caledonian who went on to take the Gold, a bronze for Willow, well done! It was then the turn for her big sister Paris who was fighting her first competition as a cadet and fought up a division (and then some!) The weight difference was always going to be too much but she put up a very courageous fight and tried many new techniques she has been practicing in class. Silver for Paris! Last but not least Daniel was also fighting in his first ever open tournament, he won his first fight against Caledonian then faced Vision in the final. It was a very close game with vision leading most of the way but a last minute head shot from Daniel gave him a 1pt win and a fantastic match from both players. Gold medal for Daniel and Titan’s first ever Gold medal from an Open competition.
Thank you to everyone who helped out at the event and congratulations to all players!
Daniel – Gold
Paris – Silver
Luke – Bronze
Willow – Bronze
South Dublin Championships
Titan Taekwondo attended its first international competition on the 6th of June at the South Dublin Championships. Luke Carroll represented the team and it was the first time he had competed abroad. He was combined up to the advanced category and although he put in a good performance he was beaten by an experienced player in the semi final. He left Ireland with a Bronze medal and valuable experience, well done Luke!
